Children’s Day 2019 at NZ Parliament | Te Rā o Ngā Tamariki

>>Children’s Day is going really well. They’re all having a really good time inside
and outside. The idea is just to open Parliament up, make
it clear that Parliament’s for families and for children, rather than a closed off place
that the public’s not welcome to.>>I quite liked how you showed us around
the Parliament, and I loved how you gave us lots of colouring pictures and acrobats.>>It was pretty fun. It was interesting as well.>>I liked the Chamber, it’s really quite cool.>>All the cool stuff in the library.>>The Beehive.>>It’s just kind of cool to be like, ‘oh
yeah, I’m painting in the Banquet Hall in the Beehive today’.>>I’m a dinosaur.>>I’m a tiger.>>I’m a butterfly.>>I got a rainbow unicorn.>>I got a cheetah.>>I think it’s really cool that we get to
invite the public in to Parliament. There’s just been a constant flow of really
excited and enthusiastic little citizens around the place.>>I would help climate change.>>Free ice cream.>>I would stop smoking.>>Give food to the homeless.>>Get people to live in more houses.>>Have a party and also have a big feast.>>Help people.>>Everyone has to look after the animals.>>Make laws.>>Set the laws.>>Make some nice laws.>>Come together and have big meetings.>>Normally a lot of meetings.>>Have lunch every minute. Well, have lunch, and then work.>>I like the marble.>>The building is made from them.>>We’ve got some Takaka marble from the top
of the South Island, and it’s the remainders of what was actually used to build the Beehive.>>Parliament is so cool.>>Because there’s important people. Mr Speaker tells them to be kicked out, and
they get kicked out.>>It makes the country better and it’s a
really cool place.>>I really like all of it.
