Council in Me (Short Film)

Council in Me (Short Film)

One roof holds multiple cultures,
Just above you can see the lurking vultures, Communities all squashed into the same place,
So our economic/ social status gives us the same face, Sirens patrol as paranoia rises,
It ain’t safe on the cold streets and the government is intimidated by the way we speak. Colours classify postcodes while gang members
live and die for the street code We worked in class just to try and beat the
tight slope, so many of our fathers are inside, so you can see why outside we can’t cope. Shattered glass, resourceful residents, the
council estate is our reflection, but they don’t see our hard work they just feel our
resistance We’re just products of our environment,
it’s our choice to be free or be consumed by the belly of the streets. We’re suffocating, doing what we can to
breathe What can I say, guess its the ‘Council in Me’.
