Facebook’s Partner: The Atlantic Council (5 Frightening Facts)

Who decides what’s real or fake on Facebook? To help monitor and crackdown on misinformation campaigns… Facebook partnered with the Atlantic Council. A think tank that represents some of the most powerful state and corporate interests in the world. The council’s board of directors includes people who have misinformed the public into war… …and toppled Democracies. Now they’re working with Facebook. To protect us from misinformation… …in the name of democracy. What could go wrong? Here’s 5 Frightening Facts about the Atlantic Council. 1. Enemies of Democracy Facebook says they’re working with the Atlantic Council… “…to protect free and fair
elections across the world.” But some find that hard to believe. Considering the Atlantic Council’s
longest serving board member is Henry Kissinger, The former secretary of state who toppled the democratic government of Chile with the CIA. The CIA by the way has several former directors who are also on the Atlantic Council… …along with former deputy director of the CIA, Stephen Kappes… …a convicted kidnapper. The CIA of course has a huge history of overthrowing democracies and propping up dictatorships. Kind of like the monarchies of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, United Arab Emirates. Who donated millions of dollars to the Atlantic Council. And don’t even pretend to care about Democracy. They still say it’s about Democracy though. “The Council is launching a partnership with Facebook…in their efforts to strengthen democracy.” So there’s nothing to worry about… Because nothing nefarious has ever done in the name of Democracy before… “We will finish the historic work of Democracy…” “…in Afghanistan and Iraq.” 2. Bush Buddies The Atlantic Council’s board of directors… …is filled with members of the George W. Bush administration. Who launched the most disastrous disinformation campaign in modern history… Starting a war that killed a million people… Over lies about 9/11 and WMD’s. Incredibly… The same day the council announced their partnership with Facebook to fight disinformation… They were engaged in their own blatant disinformation campaign. Praising George W. Bush with a “Distinguished International Leadership Award.” That’s like giving the 9/11 hijackers an award… …for “Distinguished Aviation”. 3. Media Misinformants Atlantic Council Vice Chair Richard Edelman… …is President and CEO of Edelman. The biggest privately held PR firm in the world. Edelman has been caught multiple
times creating front groups. Like the anti-union “Workers for Walmart”. Who were secretly funded by Walmart. And the anti-environmental regulation Energy Citizens, who were entirely funded by fossil fuel companies. Edelman has also done PR work for fellow Atlantic Council board member, Rupert Murdoch. The billionaire owner of hundreds of media outlets including FOX News… …famous for misinforming the public. For example take the war. Have you shaped that agenda at all? In terms of perceptions of the war? In terms of how the war is viewed? I mean WE TRIED. “Are Iraqi’s better off than they were one year ago?” “Yes they are definitely better off.” “I mean there are so many positive developments.” “You go to the markets they’re thriving.” “Big fat fish.” The more people watched Rupert Murdoch’s FOX News. The more misinformed they became. How did the Atlantic Council respond? “Hi Rupert, love your newspapers.” The Atlantic Council gave him an award
for “Distinguished Leadership” . A leadership award to the guy who used his media empire to trick the public into supporting a bloody war. This is who Facebook is letting monitor
their own social media empire for misinformation. We hope you depend on us for the truth. Because we’re gonna report the situation without an agenda or any ideological prejudice. 4. War Hawks Many members of the Atlantic Council are war hawks itching to go to war with one nation in particular. “A major threat facing our great nation: Russia.” Here’s Atlantic Council International Advisor, James Clapper painting all Russians as genetically untrustworthy. Just the historical practices of the Russians.. Who typically [are] almost genetically driven to co-opt, penetrate, gain favor, whatever.” Atlantic Council Executive Vice Chair Stephen Hadley is especially eager to go to war with Russia. “If I were in my old job I would be thinking about lethal action, yes.” “But you know this is why you have a CIA.. This is why you have covert action… And would be thinking do we want to do it explicitly and send Putin a message. Or do we want to do it covertly? You know I think now we tend
to talk too much and act too little. “And sometimes it’s good if weapons just start showing up”. Speaking of weapons… The council gets funding from literally the largest military contractors in the world. And the leaders of those top weapons contractors also sit at the top of the Atlantic Council. So that may be a factor in why they’re so trigger happy. “Russia has chosen to be an adversary and poses a long term existential threat to the United States.” “We need to make the Russians pay a price”. “By killing Russians?” “Yes.” “And killing Iranians?” “Yes.” “Covertly.” “So you don’t tell the world about it right?” “You don’t stand up on the Pentagon and say we did this.” “But you make sure they know it in Moscow and Tehran.” And if you don’t support their hawkish agenda… You might just get labeled a Russian troll. 5. Targeting Dissidents Before Partnering with Facebook… The Atlantic Council worked with the UK government… …to identify twitter accounts that they said spread disinformation. “Government analysis has identified what they call ‘Kremlin inspired accounts'”. “Very extensive research they’ve done with the Atlantic Council.” “Which is a think tank based in Washington.” One of those accused of being “a Russian disinformation account” …by Atlantic Council analyst Ben Nimmo… …was British retiree, Ian Shilling…. …who went on Sky News to clear his name. “Ian so you’ve been identified by the government in this research as a ‘Russian bot’.” “Are you?” “I have no Kremlin contacts whatsoever.” “I do not know any Russians.” “I have no contact with the Russian government.” “Or anything to do with them.” “I have no contact with spies.” “I am an ordinary British citizen!” What’s especially troubling is… According to Sky defense correspondent Alistair Bunkall… One of the reasons Ian’s account was identified… …as part of a Russian disinformation campaign… …was simply because he posted a lot of tweets critical of the British government. “And this is what the British government—one of the reasons they’ve highlighted your account.” “You have consistently and prolifically taken an anti-British standpoint.” So what happens when being consistently and prolifically critical of the government… …gets you identified as a “Russian troll farm” by The Atlantic Council? Ian’s twitter account was suspended. And Ben Nimmo acknowledged
it as a victory. But the next day Twitter notified Ian that is was a mistake. And restored his account. So at least in this case the open exchange
of ideas necessary for any healthy democracy survived. Since announcing their partnership with the Atlantic Council… Facebook has removed hundreds of accounts for “inauthentic behavior”… Such as using fake accounts and spamming. These are real issues on the platform so removing accounts does not automatically mean political censorship. But given the fact that the Council gets funding from the US government, foreign governments, and large multinational corporations… …it’s a legitimate concern… …those interests could exert some influence… …over what the Atlantic Council determines to be misinformation… …and which accounts get removed by Facebook.

  1. "Content identified as not suitable for most viewers"!! Are all the horrific images really necessary to make a very valid assessment? Sorry, don't have the stomach for it… short-lived new subscriber.

  2. I want to decide what's real or fake. I have critical thinking skills, many do not! If I want to believe Russia got Trump elected, that's MY choice. If I want to believe there were "weapons of mass destruction," that's MY choice. If I want to believe the government has my best interest at heart, that's MY choice. NO ONE can make those decisions for me………

  3. Not surprisingly this video is "identified as not suitable for most advertisers". So just a reminder since I obviously can't earn money from advertising on important content like this please consider supporting me on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/orf

  4. I believe it was a proactive choice perhaps as a result of the very real pressure put on Fb leading up to and during congressional hearing. No doubt negotiated by the Facebook lobbyists immediately to the right and left of Zuck during his testimony. (They are both former white house staffers for George W Bush…)—so much info I didn't get into in video for time.

  5. Just FYI: Not every single member of The Atlantic Council is a democracy toppling, war mongering, misinformant kidnapper. But they certainly have an agenda (mostly big business and state interests), they’re not at all objective, and there’s more than enough shady characters on the board for everyone to be concerned. (Yes I looked up every single board member of the Atlantic Council)

  6. Well done Matt. An important message, well-edited and supported with videos of Atlantic Council members revealing their intents and methods in their own words. Looking for banning by the YouTube police in 3, 2, 1…

  7. Matt I like your channel. Maybe you've spoken about this before. But recently CNN and MSNBC has been spreading their own kind of propaganda and disinformation.

  8. Great editing, long term sub Matt but I think you sorta miss the point, you're not naive at all but here this may help. It isn't in most of the atlantic council's interest to go to war, instead its in there interest to get bogged down into several wars or pretend there's a looming threat because in all times media especially liberal media reports on a war, culture becomes war spending driven. Now for many in the atlantic council they have shares in the defense sector but also many have US bonds. When war sales do good so does the economy, but more or less there groups like the atlantic council have trust funds and hedges set to trade dividends of things relating to defense. This would mean they want the US to spend without the war affecting the economy. Furthermore as about half of the council does big buisness in china they wont critisize china often despite it posing a bigger threat. Russia is testing the free worlds defenses but china is already behind our defenses stealing our data while we trade.

  9. Brilliant!! Thanks for denouncing that F-ing (freedom-destroying) bunch of egregious criminals! All would be hanged, or at least sentenced for life, by a modern version of the Nuremberg Trials. That's the reason why Bush Jr (#43) passed "The Hague Invasion Act" in 2002.

  10. Fucking awesome video Matt O, keep speaking truth to power brudda!

This is not a left or right issue ladies & gentleman. This comes down to popular referendum, accountability, and transparency. The elite love sparking our tribal instincts to divide and conquer. This is the modern day "Operation Mockingbird".

  11. Stop calling my republic a democracy:

"The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion; and on Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened), against domestic Violence.
    Article IV, Section 4

Why are we pushing democracy when we've lost our Liberty?

"Establishing democracy is the first step in the revolution." – Karl Marx

So when will the republicrats repeal the 16th amendment and the evil gun laws and pass a constitutional amendment to ban socialism?

Why are we REFORMING COMMUNISM? WHY is NO ONE asking WHY we HAVE an income tax?

Democracy is evil, another form of manipulation, two wolves and a sheep voting on lunch. Liberty is a well-armed sheep contesting the vote and killing the wolves. We MUST DEMAND LIBERTY!

  12. Ever hear of the Tavistock Inst.? It's a British run MIND CONTROL center who now runs FaceBook. Think about it! BTW Democracy = Socialism = Communism. The term "democracy" was brought into the US during the 1930's during Socialist FDR;s reign. The US is NOT a democracy, The US is a CONSTITUTIONAL REPUBLIC! You will NOT find the word democracy anywhere in our Constitution nor our Declaration of Independence.

  13. The real problem for Facebook is that if they dont go along with the Atlantic council the council will market a massive campaign sinking Facebook whereas if they align with them they will continue and Zuckerberg will join an illusive club with endless wealth. TOUGH CHOICE for someone used to being a billionaire and someone who loves the power tonnes of money can bring.

  14. A long history of thwarting democracies and installing dictatorships – another example would be United States of America. We're a puppet state too.

  15. James Clapper was momentarily confused when he spoke about the Russians, instead of the Ashkenazis, as being "genetically untrustworthy".

  16. What kind of world we live in? Psychopaths everywhere. They will do things themselves or let it happen (only common people will be affected) to gratify their power lust. Can we point finger on one country? But yes, we can point on few.

  17. The 911 hijackers are in the Atlantic Council. The WTC Mega Ritual was an inside job. So George got his reward
Thanks for a ten minute tune up on the Atlantic Council. Jimmy Dore mentioned it

  18. Matt you forgot the Biggest Overthrown of Government
    by the CIA

    The Big Event at 11/22/1963
    was a Coup D’Etat .

  19. I hope you are not being gangstalked, have synthetic telepathy, V2K and non-touch torture at your home after this video.

  20. googled theAtlantic Council because I wanted to know who they were. I'm surprised I was even able to find your video as one of the top suggestions on youtube, given their filter.

  21. Not that I don't agree with the concerns in this video, but framing the rise of Pinochet in Chile as a bad thing is disconcerting. Pinochet took a country that was in complete shambles due to hilariously bad socialist economic policies and fixed it. Dictator or not, he was a net positive for the nation and peacefully retired unlike every other dictator in history.

  22. Seems like the biggest impediment to world peace, freedom and democracy is Western capitalist imperialism!

  23. Thanks for choosing your words carefully, instead of babbling at twice the normal talking speed (like most youtube clowns). Why the fuck is that so hard to do? Also thanks for sticking it to The Man.

  24. I shared it on FB. I was canceled last year. If it happens again. I think I'll scream. I have a lot of FB friends and we will need a new way to communicate. I don't use Twitter because it's the method of the maniac in the WH.

  25. 4:30– 5:04– reminds me of powerful quotes I came across in "Travels with Charley", by John Steinbeck (certainly someone who loves America and what it means to be American).

"You think then we might be using the Russians as an outlet of something else, for other things?" "I didn't think that at all sir, but I bet I'm going to."

"Maybe everybody needs Russians. I'll bet even in Russia they need Russians. Maybe they call it American."

"I asked, 'Anybody know any Russians around here'? And now he went all out and laughed, 'Course not. That's why they're valuable. Nobody can find fault with you taking out after the Russians."

Do not fear "The Russians", because, ultimately, they are people just like you and me. Fear the rich elite who focus solely on remaining rich and elite, regardless of the land they call home.
