From Discovery to Design – A Film by Phillips Collection

Hi, I’m Mark Phillips, President and CEO
of Phillips Collection. Hi, I’m Jason Phillips. I’m Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Phillips Collection. For 35 years we’ve been traveling the
world, discovering and designing amazing products, and we went from being a company of discovery to a company of design. There’s nothing quite like experiencing
Phillips Collection in person. Right now we are at our headquarters in High Point, North Carolina and just five minutes down the road our flagship space at the
IHFC building in downtown High Point has over 10,000 square feet of beautiful
Phillips product. The industry seems to like what we do. We understand where the market is going and are trying our best to design responsibly sourced products
that fit today’s aesthetic. There are so many wonderful materials we work with here at Phillips Collection. Most notably the live-edge wood. We have Origins by Philips Collection, something we introduced close to a decade ago and I think we’ve become global leaders in sustainably sourced live-edge. Chamcha wood from Northern Thailand and Suar wood from Indonesia are two of the most primary woods that we work with. Those woods afford us the ability to get super wide and super long slabs that have such great character….really great acceptors
of different finishes like the grey stone finish which has a great texture. It’s cerused. It’s got a wonderful grey color that works in lots of different
interiors. But it’s that natural golden acacia that comes from both countries
that is what we seek and what we’re known for. We started studying geodes and
precious stones and from our trips to Brazil, Mexico and Indonesia. We saw a
real opportunity to bring something completely new to market. We have bowls
made from onyx that could be turned into sinks, each one with its own character, its own shape. We have incredible vast resources that I believe are guided by our eye, our style and originality. We call that Elements by Phillips Collection. How do you shorten a six week ocean? You can’t. But what we do is stock a thousand tables, not just 10 or 20. So we have every size, every style, every degree of live-edge that you could
magine. The ability to pick that exact piece is what makes Elements and Origins so special. Mark is somebody that’s constantly on the market for more real estate. We went from a 40,000 square foot facility to now nearly 400,000 square feet of warehousing with the latest building we acquired. No
matter how much we grow in size we want to stay true to what we consider our
niches in the marketplace which is bringing extraordinary design with an
organic feel. Things you’ve never seen before. Things that will surprise and
delight you so whether you’re at the showroom at one of the furniture markets
and you’re seeing it on the showroom floor, we tagged that table for you and
once you’ve tagged it, it’s yours and nobody else will have that and we think
that’s really special. If you’re fortunate enough to come to
High Point Market on opening night, we’ve got “Meatballs and Moonshine.” It’s the name of our big party where we’ll literally serve 5,000 meatballs from
BBQ Joe’s Catering down the road… and a little bit of moonshine as well! We
put a lot of thought as to how we engage with our customers during the market.
So this is not only in terms of how we educate customers on what’s in the
showroom, or introduce the newest products, but also…What’s that experience
as you walk in? We want to be prepared to present
products that will not only suit them but will thrill them.
