People ask me why we need an election, and the answer is that our political system is in a rut, our Parliament is paralysed. We have a great new deal to allow us to honour the mandate of the people and leave the EU, it’s ready to go. Unfortunately, Parliament is currently blocking it. But if we can get, as I hope we can, a new majority Conservative government in a new Parliament, then from day one we’ll be able to push that Brexit deal through, and then get on with the priorities of the British people. I’m very proud of what we’ve done in the last 100 days as a new government in delivering on massive funding for the NHS, the biggest in a generation, £34 billion, lifting up funding for education across the whole country, every primary, every secondary school, putting 20,000 police out on the streets, and an infrastructure revolution, including gigabit broadband for every home. That’s what we want to get on and deliver. It’s a very, very exciting prospect. On the other hand, Jeremy Corbyn and the Labour Party have an economic agenda that would mean ruin for our businesses and for our country. And worse still than that, Jeremy Corbyn is seriously proposing yet another referendum on the EU, yet another Brexit referendum. He wants to have his own negotiation followed by a referendum. Nobody knows what the questions would be to the people, nobody knows what the result would be, obody knows by the way what the Labour Party policy would be on that referendum. What we do know is it would be another year of misery and chaos, and uncertainty for businesses and for families. And that’s why I hope that you’ll go with us and support us as a moderate One Nation Conservative government, determined to invest and improve our wonderful public services, because we also believe at the same time in a dynamic, free market economy. So let’s get Brexit done, as we can, with the deal that we already have. Let’s get Brexit done and unleash the potential of the whole of the United Kingdom.
