Senator Cory Booker Advocates for Criminal Justice Reform | Second Democratic Debate

Booker: Well, my response is that this is a crisis in our country because we have treated, issues of race, and poverty, mental health and addiction,
with locking people up and not lifting them up. And Mr. Vice President has said that since the 1970s
every major crime bill, every crime bill major and minor has had his name on it.
And sir those are your words, not, not mine. And this is one of those instances where the house was set on fire,
and you claimed responsibility for those laws. And you can’t just now come up with a plan to put out that fire. We have got to have far more bold action on criminal justice reform, Like having a true marijuana justice, which means that
we legalize it on a federal level and reinvest the profits in communities that have been
disproportionately targeted by marijuana enforcement

  1. Cory Booker is the most milquetoast candidate of this election cycle. I'd rather have Joe Biden than this idiot

  2. When crime was going up and was a scourge on inner cities especially, "every major crime bill had his (Biden's) name on it" according to Booker. That's a pretty awesome Biden endorsement, if you think about it.
Increased incarceration was one of the five major factors (according to studies) leading to a reduction in that crime.
Now that crime is under control, new policies are certainly in order.

  3. Just because Trump thinks he can spot shitholes in a meeting room doesn't mean we should repeat the term.

    Please respectfully drop out.

  4. Really, really, you wanted to put your short record against VP Biden, I thought more of you. You show more respect to the other party. Disappointed in you. You lost my respect. Debate of 7/31. And, I don't respect just anyone.

  5. Cory Booker: When you have two cultures and one of them commits ten times the violence as the other, they're considered equals.
