Senator Patty Murray Thanks Senior Corps Volunteers


hello I am so delighted to take just a
moment to thank the Washington State Volunteers of CNCs s Senior Corps and
all of you for your countless hours of tireless service to our state for 46
years your contributions through the retired and senior volunteer program the
senior Companion program and the Foster Grandparent program have stepped in to
fill the gaps in our communities from providing vital support and guidance to
our youth through literacy and student mentoring programs to supporting food
banks and disaster preparedness efforts to helping other seniors through
nutrition and transportation assistance suffice to say senior core mission to
connect people with a lifetime of experience to meaningful volunteer
opportunities has been a powerful and inspiring model in our state engaging
over 5,000 volunteers and serving more than 375 organizations in communities
from Seattle to Spokane and your collective impact nearly 700,000 hours
this past year alone has been simply tremendous now more than ever our
communities need leaders like you and as a voice in the United States Senate
I will continue working to strengthen investments to support your critical
work so again thank you to Senior Corps RSVP and the Washington State
Association of RSVP directors for all you do know you will always have a
partner in me
